Memorabilia relating to Charles James Hughes and Harry Halmshaw Hughes, a silver medal awarded to F.A. official Charles James Hughes (1853-1916) on the occasion of the Belgium v England amateur football match 18th April 1908, stamped AR (argent), obverse with footballer in raised relief, match inscription to reverse, England defeated Belgium 8-2 in Brussels with Vivian Woodward scoring a hat-trick; together with a collection of b & w photographs, bulletin, menu and letter relating the Football Association official Harry Halmshaw Hughes (1880-1962), including a typescript letter on Football Association letterhead addressed to H.H Hughes Esq., subject relating to a photograph taken at the opening of the Council meeting held on 19th February, dated 7th March 1962, with b & w photograph attached, 19.5 by 20cm., a Football Association menu card 1863-1953, The Football Association Bulletin May-June 1954, The Football Association booklet with images of the offices at 22 Lancaster Gate, b & w press photographs of matches, including one with the late Queen Mother being introduced to players by H.H. Hughes at a Cup Final, 14 by 28cm., photographs of groups of gentlemen presumed members or committee members of the FA, a photograph of Stelco soccer club FA Canadian tour 1950, Prince Philip, H.H. Hughes and another looking at documents, FA tour onboard a vessel, possibly to Canada and USA in 1950, many photos featuring H.H. Hughes, 16 by 21cm., H.H. Hughes with FA officials 20 by 25cm., and further photographs of meetings and events, (qty.) Harry Halmshaw Hughes was the eldest son of Charles James Hughes. He followed in his father's footsteps with Northwich Vics, the Cheshire FA etc. He was a divisional representative with the FA from 1921 onwards, and was elevated to a Vice President role in 1944.
