Olympic Games 1940 Helsinki four table flags, 20in. high with flags of Finland, Great Britain, USA and Russia, the base of Finland flag has Helsinki 1940, all are exactly the same, only other mark on bottom of British flag is makers name. The flags were used for a meeting re: the Olympic venue, they may have been from meeting in Brussels on 3/9/1938 when the games were removed from Japan after they invaded China. By the IOC the games at Helsinki were cancelled when Russia invaded Finland on 30/11/1939. It follows that the flags must have been is use for a meeting between 3/9/1938 and 30/11/1939, most probably from IOC meeting 3/9/1938. Very rare these would have been the major countries in the IOC making the decisions about venues, (4)
