A green rugby representative cap bearing an embroidered springbok's head and dated 1924-28 on the front, with gilt tassel and braiding, the interior with handwritten name label JACK VAN DRUTEN TRANSVAAL, excellent condition with little wear, possible replacement lining on the interior, bears remnants of sticky label on underside of peak, sold with photocopied material as offered at original auction see below for further details This cap was previously sold at Mullock's 30th November 2017 auction Lot 180 with the following description "Scarce 1924 South Africa Springbok international honours cap - presented to Dr Jack Van Druten - green velvet cap c/w gold braid tassel and trim together with embroidered Springbok head with the date 1924 and 28 to either side - possibly relined otherwise overall (VG) together with a portfolio photocopied material of Official Souvenir Programme-"All Blacks South African Tour 1928" highlighting Van Druten rugby exploits and contemporary rugby -fascinating material (2) Note: Dr Van Druten an 8x times capped South African forward who studied medicine at Trinity College Dublin after World War I, went onto play for the Barbarians and then travelled home and played against the 1924 British Lions and the 1928 All Blacks scoring twice against the Lions"
