CRICKET, HOCKEY, FOOTBALL ETC - CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY PHOTOGRAPH ALBUM TO INCLUDE THE AUSTRALIAN AND SOUTH AFRICAN 1912 TOURING CRICKET TEAMS. ALL IMAGE TO OUR KNOWLEDGE PREVIOUSLY UNPUBLISHED. An exceptional large Edwardian photograph album size 16” x 11” with gilt embossed monogrammed (W.N.R) upper cloth cover and separate slip-case with the name W.N. Riley embossed in gilt to the lower right border, containing x36 previously unseen and unpublished (to our knowledge) original sepia tone photographs most images 10 ½” x 8 ½”. Depicting all of the Cambridge University sports teams that William Riley was selected for between 1911 and 1914. Teams to include: Cambridge Freshers 1911, Cambridge soccer team 1911, Cambridge Hockey teams 1911 and 1912, Cricket XI 1912, composite team photograph of Cambridge University and South Africa 1912, (to include G.A Faulkner, F.S.G Calthorpe, R.O. Schwartz, L.J. Tancred, A.D. Nourse) Cambridge University v Australia 1912 composite image to include: Warren Bardsley, Charlie Macartney, Syd Gregory, F.S.G Calthorpe, M.J. Susskind, Charlie Kellaway, Matthews, Whitty, Emery, Minnett, Jennings et al. Cambridge Cricket team 1912 inc: Calthorpe, Saville, Riley, Hopley, Baker. Seniors Soccer team including Max Woosnam, England Hockey teams against Wales 1914, Scotland 1914 plus many other team images and informal group images all featuring W.N. Riley. William Nairn Riley (24 November 1892 – 20 November 1955) was an English cricketer active from 1911 to 1914 who played for Leicestershire. He appeared in 55 first-class matches as a righthanded batsman who bowled right arm fast medium. He scored 1,620 runs with a highest score of 121 and took seven wickets with a best performance of two for 12. Riley was born in Appleby Magna, Leicestershire, and educated at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge. He died in Hove, Sussex.
