A set of Colonel William H Whitbread chocolate racing silks, with yellow collar and cuffs, bearing maker label for GEORGE PARKER & SONS LTD, LONDON, bearing handwritten annotation COL WHITBREAD in pen, slight wear to silks collar and cuffs, sold together with a b & w 20 by 15.5cm. photograph of Stan Mellor MBE wearing Colonel Whitbread's colours on Happy Medium, trained by Roddy Armytage, (2) Colonel William Henry Whitbread (1900-1994), amateur jockey and racehorse owner, inaugurated the Whitbread Gold Cup in 1957, the first ever horse race to be commercially sponsored, sponsored by Whitbread Brewers.
