A silver twin-handled tray presented by the patrons of George Owen's Cholmondeley Stables to Stan Mellor on the occasion of becoming Champion National Hunt Jockey for the first time in season 1959-60, the rectangular twin handled tray with gadrooned border inscribed PRESENTED TO STAN MELLOR CHAMPION NATIONAL HUNT JOCKEY 1959-60, FROM THE OWNERS IN CHOLMONDELEY STABLES, with facsimile signature of the owners in the Cholmondeley Stables including Francis & Brenda Williams, CM & RC Matthews, G. Evans, Joan Bingham, George R Owen, Anne Westminster, JD & Freda McKechnic, Mat & Alan Johnson, B Le Mare and many others, hallmarked Sheffield 1958 by James Dixon & Sons Ltd, 22 by 55cm., weight 1500gms., minor wear with surface marks, sold with a b & w 10 by 13cm. photograph of Stan Mellor on the day he won his first championship beating Fred Winter by one winner, (2) Stan Mellor was crowned Champion Jump Jockey on three occasions.
