COMMON,, diameter 32mm., weight 20gr., with original fitted leather case, minor wear to exterior of case, minor surface scratches to medal, enamel good Alfred 'Alf' Common (1880-1949) English inside forward footballer, played for Preston North End from 1912 to 1914, making 35 appearances, scoring nine goals, he was capped three times for England from 1904 to 1906, scoring two goals. Alf Common caused a sensation when he became the first player to transfer between clubs for a fee of £1,000 in 1905. Middlesbrough FC the club with the long pockets!
