Two albums of the Boat Race Cambridge and Oxford Universities rowing crews carte de visite, cabinet and photographic cards, each album containing images of the crews on the water and in official dress and individual images of rowers, the first album for Oxford with approximately 59 cards mounted in photo-corner mounts, dating from 1866 to 1937 with three Oxford University oars, flags and arms cards containing Card de visite and Cabinet: 1866, 1867, 1869 x 2, 1870 x 3, 1871 x 3, 1874, 1876, 1884, 1892. Postcards, used & unused. 1905, 1906 x 2, 1907 x 3, 1908, 1909, 1910, 1911, 1912, 1914, 1920 x 2., 1921 x 3, 1922 x 3., 1923 x 2., 1924 x 4., 1925 x 2., 1926., 1928., 1929 x 2., 1931., 1932., 1933., 1934., 1935., 1936., 1937 and a publicity postcard for Topolski’s ‘Boat Race’ 1985, sent to David Parnwell (Parnie) at The Dragon School. The second album of Cambridge with approximately 55 cards mounted in photo-corner mounts, dating from 1869 to 1939, containing Carte de visite & Cabinet: c1869 x 2., 1870, 1871, 1873, 1874, 1878, 1880, 1881, 1892 Postcards used & unused. 1904 x 2, 1905., 1906 x 2, 1907 x 4, 1908 x 4, 1909 x 2, 1910, 1911, 1912 x 2, 1914, 1920., 1921 x 4., 1922, 1923 x 3., 1924 x 4., 1925 x 2., 1926., 1927., 1928., 1929., 1930., 1931., 1932., 1933., 1934., 1935., 1936., 1937. Together with two undated photographs circa 1920, crew practising on the Cam., & a fine one in London, with three following steam launches (‘Eva’ putting up much steam, another unidentified but an unusual Des Vignes launch), (2) The first Boat race between the two universities was competed on 10th June 1829 and from 1856 it has been an annual race. To date the record wins is in Cambridge's favour of 85 to 80 victories.
