Emil Adam (German, 1843-1924) MANIFESTO, circa 1899, engraving of the dual Grand National winner, George Williamson up, depicted with a racecourse background, signed by the artist in pencil lower right, mounted, framed and glazed, 86 by 97cm. overall, fair condition, water damage to mount and possibly to engraving underneath Manifesto, viewed as the Red Rum of the late 19th century, ran in a record eight Grand Nationals, winning twice in 1897 and 1899, finishing third on three occasions and fourth once. Irish bred and foaled in 1888, he ran in his final Grand National at the age of 16.
