Celtic Swing's silvered racing plate, worn when winning the 1995 Prix du Jockey Club, mounted on an onyx ash tray with silvered metal nameplate engraved CELTIC SWING, in presentation box, Francis Howard Ltd., The Sheffield Silversmith printed on lid Provenance: sold with photocopy of a letter from Lady Herries confirming authenticity (purchased from Sotheby's auction in 2002).Celtic Swing (foaled 1992), despite his Prix du Jockey Club victory of 1995, was best known for his outstanding performances the previous year when he was voted Cartier's top-rated European two-year-old colt. He won the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster by an impressive 12 lengths but failed to live up to his reputation the following year. He was owned for most of his career by Peter Savill, bred by the Duchess of Norfolk and trained by her daughter Lady Herries.
