Autographs of the 1948 Australian cricket touring team to England,In ink on two pages from an album, fully signed, comprising Don Bradman (Captain), Ron Hamence, Bill Johnston, Ray Lindwall, Sam Loxton, Ron Saggers, Colin McCool, Ian Johnson, Arthur Morris, Neil Harvey, Doug Ring, Don Tallon, Bill Brown, Keith Miller, Ernie Tochack, Keith Johnson (Tour Manager), Sid Barnes, Lindsay Hassett (Vice-Captain), additionally signed by the former Australian cricketer turned journalist and commentator Jack Fingleton and also Bill O’Reilly the former player turned writer and broadcaster These autographs were collected abroad the S.S. Strathaird on 12th April 1948 by a fellow passenger, aged 11 years old at the time. The ship sailed from the Australian sea port Fremantle on Friday 19th March 1948, the route included stops in Colombo and Bombay. The autographs were collected four days before the ship docked at Tilbury. The Australian Cricket team were undefeated during the entire tour, earning the sobriquet “The Invincibles”.
