Joe Fidler's Queen’s Park Rangers 1909 London Professional Charity Fund medal, 15ct gold shield-shaped medal with loop ring, obverse with London FA enamelled crest and motto, inscribed LONDON PROFESSIONAL CHARITY FUND, DOMINE DIEIGE NOS, reverse engraved J. FIDLER QUEEN’S PARK RANGERS F.C., hallmarked, 15ct, 4 by 3cm., 19gr., in fitted case The London Professional Charity Fund match between QPR and Fulham was played on Monday 1st March1909. Fulham won 2-0. Joseph Edward Fidler (1885-1948), played at left-back for QPR from 1906-13, making 165 appearances. The London Professional Charity Fund was a meeting of 12 teams who would play just one match against their drawn opponents, and was held each year from 1909 to 1930. The winning line-ups of each of the six matches received personalised gold medals for their efforts. As the title suggests, these matches were organised by the London FA in order to raise funds for charitable purposes.
