John Beer (British 1860-1930, active 1885-1915), THE FINISH FOR THE LIVERPOOL UNION JACK STAKES, MARCH 26th 1914,watercolour, inscribed THE FINISH FOR THE LIVERPOOL UNION JACK STAKES, MARCH 26th 1914 in the artist's hand with the winner My Prince and second and third horses identified below also in the artist's hand, mounted framed and glazed, overall 44 by 51cm. The Union Jack Stakes was a Flat race contested at Liverpool (Aintree). It was something of a Classic trial, and Craganour, the subsequently disqualified winner of the 1913 Derby, was a runner-up in it.
