Winning trophy for the 1982 Chester Vase, won by Super Sunrise ridden by Paul Cook, in the form of a Georgian-style silver lidded cup with acorn finial and scrolled handles featuring lion masks, hallmarked James Dixon & Sons, Sheffield 1913, set on an onyx base with silvered plaque engraved CHESTER VASE 1982, 14 by 15cm., overall 14 by 18cm., 424gr. condition is fair to good, with wear to the green base, chips to edges evident, plaque partially loose, the trophy cup and cover is good with minor surface scratches, the rim of the cup has an obvious dent.Super Sunrise, described in the press as a 'handy colt', won the Chester Vase by one-and-a-half lengths from Father Rooney and a month later went on to finish 12th behind Golden Fleece in the 1982 Epsom Derby for his owner Mr. Jack Maxwell, trainer Gavin Hunter and jockey Edward Hide.
