'Tout' cartoon of Royal jockey Joe Childs with applied signature of H.R.H.The Princess Mary, b&w print of Joe Childs, flanked on the right by King George V's trainer William Rose Jarvis, the other figure possibly Brigadier General H.A. 'Mouse' Tomkinson - signed lower right, dated 1925, with applied dedication in ink 'FROM H.R.H. THE PRINCESS MARY', framed 25.5 by 21cm. Peter Ronald C. Buchanan (1870-1950), known as The Tout, worked as a sports cartoonist and caricaturist for the News of the World and Tatler in the 1930s and exhibited drawings at Walker's Gallery, London in 1931. Provenance: A gift to the Royal Jockey Joe Childs from H.R.H. The Princess Mary (later The Princess Royal), daughter of King George V and Queen Mary. Thence by family descent.
