A pair of trophies for Holderness Polo Tournament in 1938 and 1939, both electroplated pint tankards, engraved: HOLDERNESS POLO TOURNAMENT, 1938, 1. J.M. WHITEHEAD, 2. S. WILKINSON, 3. T.L. PAISLEY, BACK. S. STEPHENSON; HOLDERNESS POLO CLUB TOURNAMENT, 1939, 1. E.T.T. LLOYD, 2. S. STEPHENSON, 3. MAJOR W.R.N. HINDE, BACK. S. WILKINSON, 1938 with a ding to front just above base, otherwise both good Holderness Club in East Yorkshire was established in 1894, with two grounds laid on Westbourne Avenue, Hull in 1896. Players included N.P. Dobree, C.H. Fox, Thomas Holtby, George Hulton, Clive Wilson and Joe Stephenson. The club closed down in 1907 due to relative isolation and re-affiliated with the County Polo Association in 1935 with grounds near Beverley.
