It was funded by Malaysian money and the 3-cylinder FP1 design should have lead to a high-spec production bike as well as a competitive superbike team. However, after failing to win a single WSB race, despite using riders like James Haydon and Troy Corser, the venture folded at the end of 2006 and this particular damaged FP1 part was sent by the team for casing as a possible commemorative piece.
