The dog was sent off the 5-4f from Trap 4 and beat the 6 dog ''Lee Park''. After making a superb leap at the first hurdle, he led all the way to win comfortably by 6 1/4 lengths in a time of 29.80 secs. The trophy was presented to owner Joyce Matthews by Athur Aldridge of the GRA. Sherrys Prince was originally trained by John Shevlin at West Ham, but due to the trainer's failing health the dog was transferred to Colin West at White City. The kennelhand Irene Hazelwood (McNally) later became a trainer and then a stipendiary steward. Considered the greatest hurdler of all time, this outstanding greyhound set a total of 15 track records during his illustrious four year racing career which saw 70 victories in 105 hurdle races.
