A very scarce 1930s red & white unnumbered Arsenal shirt from the Joe Mercer Collection, by Bukta, long-sleeved This jersey dates from the 1930s, being by Bukta the club's shirt provider from this period and at a time when match shirts were still unnumbered. It would appear that when Joe Mercer had arrived at Highbury in 1946, and when textile rationing was still in place, shirts from the pre-war era were being further utilised as training kit. Evidently the new arrival kept this one as a souvenir of his transfer from Everton. Exhibited: Arsenal FC Museum (on loan).
