Porritt, Chef De mission of the New Zealand Olympic team, medals comprising his Paris 1924 participation medal, and his silver version of the Amsterdam 1928 Olympic Games participation medal, the edge stamped FEINSILBER 1000/000; diplomas comprising an Amsterdam 1928 Olympic Games, stylish Art Deco design with extensive gilding, fine condition, mounted, framed and glazed, 81 by 61.5 cm.; and rolled diplomas for the London 1948 Games and the Melbourne 1956 Games; the lot also including a cased medal for an audience with His Holiness Pope Paul VI during the 64th I.O.C. Session in Rome in 1966 (6) New Zealander Arthur Porritt won bronze in the famous 'Chariots of Fire' 100m at the Paris 1924 Olympic Games. He was captain of the 1928 New Zealand Olympic team but had to withdraw from competition due to injury. Later Lord Porritt served as New Zealand's IOC member between 1934 and 1967.
