A cricket bat bearing autographs collected by Alex Coxon of Yorkshire and England in 1947 and comprising the signatures of the England and South Africa Test teams and all seventeen first-class counties, a Fred Clough Senior-Counties bat, signatures in ink to the face and to the reverse, a total of 224 players have signed the bat, mounted in a custom-made glass panelled display cabinet, the bat mounted on a spindle with a handle that can rotate that bat inside the case so either side can be viewed, the case set with a plaque inscribed TO DENNIS DRISCOLL, WITH EVERY GOOD WISH, FROM ALEX COXON, SCARBOROUGH FESTIVAL 1947, 96 by 23 by 18cm., most signatures in good, legible condition, scuffs and scratches to display case varnishing The 1947 English cricket season is known as the 'golden summer' when Middlesex CCC's Denis Compton & Bill Edrich established county batting records that are unlikely to ever be surpassed.
