Memorabilia relating to the 1920s Australian racehorse trainer Colin Castle, including various trainer's permits and covering letters issued by the Australian Jockey Club dating between 1927 and 1929; together with a quantity of preiod photographs (some featuring a horsewoman believed to be Mrs Castle), press cuttings, two preserved horse hooves of racehorses unknown, and other miscellaneous memorabilia (a qty.) Colin Castle, who had ridden as an amateur in Britain, arrived in Australia in 1927 and was granted a permit to train by the Australian Jockey Club. He placed his string on Victoria Park racecourse in Sydney and his star performer was Cottingham sired by the ''Fairie'' Cox-owned Epsom Derby winner Lemberg. His first winner in Australia was with the 14.2 hands Lady Beverstock who won the Rosebery Handicap 26th July 1927. Castle was the brother-in-law of the Irish-Australian trainer E.T. O'Sullivan who won 782 winners in America, Australia and Great Britain. He once trained five winners at a meeting at Bogside, Scotland, in 1925.
