Paris 1924 Olympic Games gold medal S?vres porcelain vase by Guillonnet awarded to a Uruguayan footballer, designed by Octave Denis Victor Guillonnet and Emile Bracquemond, featuring football, rowing, rugby and diving on p?te-sur-p?te roundels against a cobalt blue ground with extensive hand painted gilt laurel branches, the neck with a band of aeronautical decoration, factory and designer marks to base, height 33.5cm. Information regarding these vases appears on p.804 of the Paris 1924 Olympic Games Official Report. Additionally there is an excellent article at http://www.guillonnet.org/fr. The vases were made in several versions to accommodate various Olympic events, 309 in total They were presented only to gold medal winners, with a few reserved for dignitaries and institutions. The full necessary production numbers were not achieved by the time the Games commenced, and many gold medal winners received their vase afterwards. In the case of overseas competitors this was achieved by shipping to French Embassies around the world for distribution to the recipients.
