Sunderland Football Club memorabilia, including an extremely early item being a printed invitation from F J Trewhitt, Hon. Sec. of Sunderland Foot Ball Club, Woodside, inviting a Mr G E Gales to an evening event & dance at the Garrison Hall, Sunderland, 16th November 1882, laid down on a Victorian scrapbook page; sold together with a group of three telegrams sent to the Sunderland's Frank Cuggy on F.A. Cup Final Day 19th April 1913, the first two sent in the morning: i) ''Sunderland team congratulations, expect to see you win today, Walker North Shields'' ii) ''Wish you success, Conroy'' the other sent after the match: iii) ''Hard luck, great disappointment to cafe staff canny lasses'' (4) The club was formed 17th October 1879 as 'Sunderland and District Teachers AFC' by schoolmaster James Allan. Sunderland AFC joined the Football League in season 1890-91. Having won the League Championship in 1912-13, Sunderland narrowly lost out on securing 'the double' through a 78tth minute Tommy Barber goal for Aston Villa.
