THE PADDOCK, NEWBURY, 30 NOVEMBER '63, 'ARKLE' , 'MILL HOUSE' signed and inscribed with title, pencil and watercolour and bodycolour on grey paper, 32 by 37cm., framed, Tryon Gallery label The first meeting between steeplechase rivals Arkle and Mill House was in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury. Mill House won on this occasion after Arkle had slipped badly on landing at the last Open Ditch, three out. Provenance: Privately commissioned by Anne, Duchess of Westminster.
