Tony Smith (born 1932) BRITISH GRAND PRIX 1989 signed lower left, oil on canvas, 53 by 79cm., framed, the backboard bearing an original Halcyon Gallery label and notepaper with the full title: 'British Grand Prix 1989, Nigel Mansell in the Ferrari 640 relentlessly pursues Alain Prost's McLaren MP4, Silverstone, Woodcote Corner and grandstands'. Nigel Mansell won twice during his first year with Ferrari, but could only finish second to Prost at his home race, despite being urged on by his devoted fans, many of whom cheered aloud when Ayrton Senna in the other McLaren spun out at Becketts. The atmosphere is successfully captured by artist Tony Smith, now considered one of the country's leading automotive artists, whose association with The Halcyon Gallery began in 1987 and continues to this day
