An Impressively detailed 1930s silvered tennis figurine of a gentleman about to play a forehand shot, he holds an unusual racket with fine mesh stringing, in that it is engineered so that it screws onto the remainder of the handle already held by him, the detail is impressive and includes his shoe laces, belt buckle and even his moustache, it is mounted upon a circular ebonised base, professional almost undetected repair to the location where his head is attached to his collar, 27cm. high; sold together with a Victorian silk-lined leather book cover (21 by 14cm.) which is mounted with a brass band featuring an early lawn tennis scene of a mixed doubles match, the cover has a carrying handle attached and an integral page marker, it contains a copy of Suzanne Lenglen' s book, Lawn Tennis Game of Nations (2)
