Programme and ticket for the first match day in the National Professional Soccer League in the USA 16th April 1967, for Baltimore Bays v Atlanta Chiefs played at the Memorial Stadium (2) Baltimore won their inaugural match 1-0, through a goal by their Haitian striker Guy St Vil. The NPSL lasted for just one season, as it merged with the League of the United Soccer Association, also started the same year, to form the North American Soccer League (NASL) which lasted until 1985. British players on the rosters of the Bays and the Chiefs in the new NPSL were for the Bays Terry Adlington, Dennis Connaghan & Dennis Viollet; and for the Chiefs Vic Rouse, Brian Hughes, Gordon Ferry, John Cocking, Vic Crowe, Ray Bloomfield, Ron Newman, Peter McParland, Phil Woosnam, Graham Newton, Brian Bedford & Howard Riley.
