Gordon Banks match-worn Fort Lauderdale Strikers goalkeeping jersey from the game v Cosmos at the Giants Stadium 15th May 1977, black & red long-sleeved jersey, numbered 1 front & back and the reverse lettered BANKS; sold with the official ''Kick'' programme for the match (2) At the 1970 World Cup in Mexico, England's goalkeeper Gordon Banks pulled off what is widely regarded as the greatest save in football history to deny Brazil's Pele powerful bouncing downward header. When these two legendary footballers faced each other again in the 1977 NASL fixture at the Giants Stadium it was a very different story. Pele scored a hat-trick as Fort Lauderdale were defeated 3-0. Pele's hat-trick ball from this match is being sold elsewhere in this auction as lot 918, Pele's match-worn shorts are being offered as lot 919 and Carlos Alberto's shorts as lot 920.
