A large Venus Rosewater Dish, the design of which is based upon that of the annual award presented to the Ladies' Champion at the All England Club Lawn Tennis Championships at Wimbledon, measuring 44.5cm. in diameter, the dish is decorated in relief showing a central boss surrounded by four mythological reserves, with eight upon a spreading rim, the remainder is decorated with gilt renaissance strap-work and foliate motifs, the centre on the reverse is stamped ''A.B. PARIS''; sold together with a page from The Illustrated London News featuring a description and engraving of the dish in July 1865; and a copy of The Tennis Collector magazine containing a three-page article all about the dish and its history (3)
