The Roger Hunt Liverpool Goalscoring Record football, the match ball autographed by the team, signatures now faint Roger Hunt became Liverpool's record goalscorer on 7 November 1967 in an Inter-Cities Fairs Cup tie against TSV Munich of West Germany, in which he scored his 242nd goal for the club to beat the record set by Gordon Hodgson between 1925 and 1936. By the time he left the club in 1969 to join Bolton Wanderers, Hunt's final tally of Liverpool goals was 286 from 492 appearances (58% ratio), comprising: League 245 goals from 404 appearances F.A. Cup 18 goals from 44 appearances League Cup 5 goals from 10 appearances 18 goals from 34 other competitive fixtures including European competition & the Charity Shield Roger Hunt's club record was not broken until by Ian Rush 23 years later, whose final tally of 346 goals came from 660 appearances (51% ratio).
