A 70th Birthday banquet menu for the former mile world record breaking athlete Walter G. George, hosted by the National Sporting Club, Covent Garden, London, 10th September 1928; sold with an original photograph taken on the evening with George standing 4th from the right, accompanied by eight other guests including Ton Newman (billiards champion), Joe Binks (athlete), Bombardier Billy Wells (boxer), Sir Charles Allom (architect & interior decorator) and ''Peggy'' Bettinson (founder of the NSC), identified to the reverse of the photo On 23rd August 1886 W G George set a new mile world record time of 4mins. 12 3/4secs. This time was not surpassed for almost 30 years.
