A rare promotional brochure for a 1925 movie starring the American 100 yards Olympic and World Record holding sprinter Charles W. Paddock titled ''9 3/5 Seconds'', undated, distributed by A.G. Steen Inc., 1650 Broadway, New York Charles Paddock (1900-1943) was born at Gainesville, Texas. An outstanding sprinter, he won double gold at the 1920 Antwerp Olympic Games in the 100m and 4x100m relay, as well as silver in the 200m the event where he would take silver again at Paris in 1924. Paddock was the first athlete to be called by the now familiar sobriquet ''The Fastest Man Alive'' and set a series of world records. In the movie ''Chariots of Fire'' Paddock was portrayed by the actor Dennis Christopher. Paddock himself went to Hollywood after his athletics career. ''Nine and Three-Fifths Seconds'' was the first of four credits in quick succession, the others were ''The College Hero'' and ''High School Hero'' in 1927 and ''The Olympic Hero'' in 1928.
