THIS LOT HAS BEEN WITHDRAWN FROM THE AUCTION Perry Groves's red & white No.12 Arsenal jersey worn in the Littlewoods Football League Cup Final v Liverpool at Wembley 5th April 1987, short-sleeved, inscribed LITTLEWOODS CUP FINAL, WEMBLEY, 1987; sold together with a signed letter of provenance from Perry Groves (2) Arsenal beat Liverpool 2-1 to claim their first major trophy since the F.A. Cup win over Manchester United in 1979. Perry Groves provided the cross for Charlie Nicholas's second-half winning goal. From a Liverpool viewpoint the match was significant in two respect. It was the only time in his entire career that Ian Rush had scored Liverpool's goal and been on the losing side. this was the only occasion in his whole career at Anfield when he had scored and was on the losing side. The game was also Kenny Dalglish's final career performance at Wembley Stadium.
