The red & white striped Sheffield United shirt worn by Archie McPherson in the F.A. Cup final v Arsenal at Wembley Stadium 25th April 1936, by Bukta for Jack Archer Sports Outfitters, 90 Bramhall Lane, Sheffield, long-sleeved, embroidered silkwork badge bearing the Coat of Arms of Sheffield Sheffield United were beaten 1-0 by Arsenal in the 1936 F.A. Cup Final, Ted Drake breaking the deadlock in the 74th minute. The Scot Archie McPherson (1909-1969) joined Sheffield United in 1934 having played for Liverpool who had signed the left sided wing half from Glasgow Rangers in 1929. He eventually returned to Scotland playing for Falkirk and post-war took up the position of manager at Alloa Athletic in his native Stirlingshire. ''Curly'' McPherson as he was nicknamed was also a good cricketer playing at Scottish County Championship level batting for Clackmannan.
