Peter Marinello's winner's presentation for the 1970 FAIRS Cup, in the form of a continental miniature silver plated replica of the Trophee Noel Beard, inscribed COUPE d'EUROPE DES FOIRES, TROPHEE NOEL BEARD, VAINQUEUR 1970, 28TH APRIL 1970, P. MARINELLO, fitted on an ebonised base, height 17cm., 6 1/2in. In the 1970 Fairs Cup Final, Arsenal beat RSC Anderlecht 4-3 on aggregate to win their first European trophy. Peter Storey's trophy sold in these rooms 7th May 2008 for £6,500. Peter Marinello joined Arsenal from Hibs in 1970 for a then record club fee of £100,000 and was dubbed the ''new George Best'' by the British press scoring on his debut at Old Trafford. However, he never managed to concrete his place in the first-team, left Highbury in 973 and playing for a plethora of other sides before his retirement in 1984.
