Alf Day's international cap and playing kit from his sole appearance for Wales in 1933, a green Wales cap inscribed F.A.W., 1933; the long-sleeved red shirt and white shorts worn by Day for Wales in the match v Northern Ireland at Windsor Park 4th November 1933 (3) The story goes that the Football Association of Wales secretary, Ted Robbins, rang the secretary at Spurs, Arthur Turner, to enquire if he knew anyone who could help out his depleted Welsh team in the upcoming match in Northern Ireland. Turner mentioned that he had a promising reserve half-back. This led to Day being capped before having appeared in League Football. The match ended as a 1-1 draw. Shortly afterwards, Day made his debut for the Spurs' first-team.
