The 1967 London Cup, in the form of a three-handled silver trophy cup, hallmarked Birmingham, 1912, inscribed ALEXANDRA PARK RACECOURSE, THE LONDON CUP, 1967, set on a composition base, height 28cm., 11in.; sold together with Terry Jennings' biography ''David Trenchard Thom, A man before his time'' with a passage on p.124-125 regarding 'John Cameron' , the London Gold Cup win and the trophy where it is relay that the author saw the trophy in David Thom's house and commented what a nice cup it was, the trainer responded by saying ''I'll leave it to you in my will'' (2) The 1967 London Cup at Alexandra Palace was won by Mr Doug Symonds's John Cameron. Trained by David Thom and ridden by Taffy Thomas, the horse led from pillar to post and broke the track record winning by six lengths. John Cameron had previously won hurdle races at Kempton Park and Wetherby during the 1966-67 NH season. Alexandra Palace was a London horse racing venue that operated between 1868 and 1970. Due to the configuration of the track with a single straight and loop it was known as the 'Frying Pan'. The London Cup was the course's most prestigious race of the calendar. After the closure it transferred to Newbury.
