Alexander Watson Hutton ''The Father of Argentinian Football'': a programme of 15th Annual Exhibition at the Buenos Aires English High School 19th December 1898, orgainsed by A. Watson Hutton M.A., Rector, an evening of music including performances from boys and girls at the school Alexander Watson Hutton (1853-1936) was born in Glasgow and founded the Buenos Aires English High School in 1884. Here he included sports into the school curriculum including football. By 1893 he founded the Argentine Football Association and was its first President and organised the first League Championships in the country, the oldest outside of Europe. In 1898, the year of the present school programme, Hutton affiliated a school team to the League Championship which was later renamed Alumni Athletic Club and won a total on nine Argentine Championships, a number only surpassed by five other clubs in subsequent years, River Plate, Boca Juniors, Racing Club, Independiente & San Lorenzo. Alexander Watson Hutton died in Buenos Aires and is buried at the British Cemetery.
