A crystal football trophy presented to West Ham United's Shaun Newton on the occasion of the match at Southend United for the Ron Poutney Testimonial 1st August 2000, engraved with the Southend United crest and inscribed 2000, SOUTHEND UNITED, BEST WISHES and with Poutney's facsimile signature, height 16.5cm., 6 1/12in. Legendary Shrimper Ron Poutney had been scheduled to benefit from a testimonial match v West Ham 14 years earlier but the game had to be cancelled due to congestion in the Hammers fixture list. A group of committed Southend fans campaigned for the match to be re-arranged and it finally came to fruition on 1st August 2000.
