1998 Damon Hill ''Buzzin' Hornets'' Jordan racesuit and driving gloves by Sparco, the black and gold Nomex suit bearing a Union flag / Damon Hill name

Status:
Unsold
Estimated Price:

£3,000 - £4,000

1998 Damon Hill ''Buzzin' Hornets'' Jordan racesuit and driving gloves by Sparco, the black and gold Nomex suit bearing a Union flag / Damon Hill name patch on the right-hand trouser pocket, full tobacco branding with a large ''Buzzin' Hornet'' motif on the back, also Delphi, Goodyear, MasterCard, Mugen Honda, Pearl, Remus, Repsol, S.Oliver and Scania sponsor logos, FIA approval mark stitched into the collar, the inner Sparco label marked NAME: HILL above a crossed-through SCHUMACHER, DATE: 14798, REF: 016; sold with a pair of Nomex & leather driving gloves (3) Marked as it is and dated immediately after that year's British GP, it is likely that Damon used this suit for unscheduled testing work whilst Ralf Schumacher was otherwise engaged promoting the next two Grand Prix in Germany and Austria. Aerodynamic changes needed to be tested and this extra work would pay off seven weeks later, when Damon led his team-mate in a 1-2 finish at the Belgian GP, which fulfilled his pre-season prediction of giving Eddie Jordan's team its first-ever Formula 1 victory.
