Nevertheless, with drivers like the fabled Aussie hero Peter Brock and Sir Jack Brabham`s sons Geoffrey and David, together with top European stars such as Matt Neale, Jason Plato and John Cleland at the wheels of BMWs, Renaults, Volvos and Nissans the races were great and very closely-fought spectacles. Such is the enthusiasm for the Bathurst 1000 in Australia that the telecasts lasted for some ten hours!
