A Football Combination League Championship winner's medal awarded to John Ryden of Tottenham Hotspur in season 1956-57, in silver-gilt, inscribed THE FOOTBALL COMBINATION, LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP, WINNERS, 1956-57, in original fitted case; sold together with a winner's medal presented to John Ryden for the 1960 London 5-A-Side Football Championship (2) John Ryden was born at Bonhill in Scotland 18th February 1931. He joined Tottenham Hotspur in 1955 after initial spells at Alloa Athletic and Accrington Stanley. Recognised as a strong tackling, uncompromising centre-half Ryden made a total of 63 League Appearances for Spurs before leaving fro Watford in 1959. John Ryden finished his career in non-League as a player and player/manager at Romford, Tunbridge Wells Rangers & Bexley United. In retirement he became an insurance broker. He died at Keston, south-east London, 16th August 2013 aged 82.
