Beamish partnering F M B Fisher in the men's doubles at the World's Covered Court Championships, Queen's Club, London, in 1920; a silver runner-up medal for the men's singles at the World's Covered Court Championships, Copenhagen, 1921; together with another medal, in silver, inscribed ANGLO DUTCH CLUB, LAWN-TENNIS MATCHES, NOORDWIJK, 3-4 SEPT. 1921 (4) Winifred Geraldine Ramsey Beamish, b. 23 June 1883, Forest Gate, d. 10 May 1972, St. Pancras, was an English tennis player who competed in the 1920 Summer Olympics and won a silver medal in the women's doubles with her partner Dorothy Holman (this medal is being offered as Lot 593 in the Olympic Section of this sale). She competed at Wimbledon every year between 1910-33 reaching the ladies semi-finals twice in 1922 & 1923. She was a finalist in the doubles in 1921. One of her greatest triumphs was winning the World Covered Court Championship (WCCC) in 1920 when she beat Kathleen McKane Godfree in the final three sets. The World's Covered Court Championships was only staged on six occasions. The final winners in the singles were Henri Cochet and Kitty Godfree in 1923.
