The 2006 Germany FIFA World Cup Globe Iranian Silk Carpet, pattern designer, carpet framework constructor, warping, organizing and control by Mohammad Ali Farrokhi, main weaving by Ziba Ghanbarpoor, conceived in celebration of Iran qualifying for the 2006 World Cup in Germany, the globe carpet 1 ? years in the making working 11 to 18 hour days, made from natural silk, highly delicate construction, 100 knots per square centimetre, surface area of 0.6936m2, diameter of 47cm., 20 colours employed, all natural dyes prepared in Tabriz by Samad Mamdoohi, ranging from dark and bright blue prepared from natural indigo through to yellows and reds derived from Iranian saffron and madder, the background designed geographically and panelled in the manner of a football with 12 pentagons and 20 hexagons, overlaid with details of the 32 competing nations, in English language, comprising country name, flag, capital city, land mass, population, inauguration date of the country's Football Association, and the nation's World Cup record, also bearing the official logo of the 2006 FIFA World Cup, suspended on a brass axis and mounted to a perspex stand, the globe is fitted with an internal bladder and valve and can be inflated by means of a bicycle pump, a full explanation of the project translated into English from Iranian language is available to prospective bidders on request
