The Spanish National Football Managers' Association honorary diploma awarded to Domingo Balmanya in 1984, the illuminated diploma laid down on red silk in an elaborately carved wooden frame, overall 51 by 61cm., 20 by 24in. 1984 represented the 10th anniversary of the retirement of the respected Spanish football coach Domingo Balmanya who managed numerous clubs in Spain during a long career including a spell at Barcelona, where he had spent much of his playing days. His Barcelona team between 1956 and 1958 included the likes of Velasco, Joan Segarra, Ramallets, Ladislao Kubala, Luis Suarez and Evaristo. However, such is the expectation at the club that despite winning a Fairs Cup (1958) and a Copa del Generalisimo (1957), two successive 3rd places in La Liga sealed his fate and he was replaced by Helenio Herrera. He did, however, win a La Liga guiding Atletico Madrid to the title in 1964-65. This success was instrumental in him being appointed national coach between 1966 and 1968.
