A track spike worn by Jonathan Edwards during his gold medal winning triple jump at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, a white Oasics Special with yellow and blue trim, the spiked sole in orange, grey and purple, now housed in a custom built display case; sold together with, by way of provenance, a photograph and a video; the lot also including a large framed colour photographic print of Jonathan Edwards on his lap of honour and with this shoe in his hand just moments before he threw it into the crowd, the image 24 by 36in. (4) At the end of the Olympic Triple Jump competition, Jonathan Edwards celebrated his gold medal victory with a lap of honour at the Olympic stadium. When he approached an area with a concentration of British supporters he threw his right track shoe into the crowd. Through serendipity it was caught by the present vendor who had travelled to Sydney from England for the Games. This moment has been captured on video and is offered as part of the lot.
