An archive of artworks by Ernie Loze relating to rugby union football in Cornwall, the majority original artworks but also including a few prints reproduced from the originals, the lot including portraits of Cornish England internationals Bert Solomon (Redruth), Maffer Davey (Redruth), T G Wedge (St Ives), E J Jackett (Falmouth), Chris Martin (Penryn/Bath), J T George (Falmouth), Kendall Carpenter (Penzance), R D Kennedy (School of Mines), Graham Dawe (Launceston & Bath), R Hosen (Penryn), John Collins (Cambourne), Dr E K Scott (Redruth), V G Roberts (Penryn), J M Williams (Penzance), B Ninnis (St Ives), Ken Plummer (Penryn), Stack Stevens (Penzance), D H Prout (Redruth), & R A W Sharp (Redruth), also two works incorporating impressions of Cornish post-war England rugby international caps, other subjects relating to rugby at county level with various club representation, the lot including some non-rugby content relating to cricket, golf, bowls etc. in Cornwall, a mixture of framed & unframed, various sizes (a qty.) Ernie Loze's cartoons and caricatures were regularly published in the Cornwall Independent newspaper and elsewhere including national titles on occasions. As well as being a talented caricaturist and a professional cartographic draughtsman in the drawing office of the South West Electricity Board, Ernie Loze was a historian of rugby union football with a particular knowledge of his home town club Redruth RFC and Cornish rugby in general. In his youth he had played for Redruth Albany, Redruth and Camborne. Ernie Loze also helped start and the curate the collection of rugby memorabilia at the Redruth RFC clubhouse.
