Rhys Gabe's 1902-03 gold & enamel Wales Triple Crown rugby medal, The medal with Welsh dragon and inscribed WELSH FOOTBALL UNION, mounted in a picture frame with a scanned portrait photograph together with printed biog details, overall 38 by 28cm., 15 by 11in. Born in Llangennech in 1880, Rees [sic] Thomas Gabe played for Llanelli (1897-98 & 1902-03), London Welsh, Cardiff (captain 1907-08, scoring 51 tries in 115 appearances), Glamorgan and Middlesex. He won 24 caps for Wales, 1901-08, scoring eleven tries, and toured with the British Isles in Australasia 1904, playing three tests against Australia and one against New Zealand. The centre actually played in three Triple Crown winning teams, 1900, 1902 & 1907, latterly as Welsh captain in the 29-0 win over Ireland.
