Farnham Urban District Council dinner menu signed by and honouring Mike Hawthorn, his signature on the front cover in black ballpoint pen, held at The Bush Hotel on the 19th November 1958 to present an Illuminated Copy of a Council Resolution congratulating him on 'becoming the first British driver to win the World Motor Racing Drivers' Championship', sold with a later Farnham Herald newspaper cutting recalling the event (2) Nicknamed the 'Farnham Flyer', Mike Hawthorn became World Champion exactly one month before this dinner took place. Three months and three days after this success, on January 22nd 1959, the 29 year-old was Guest of Honour at the Farnham and District Motor Agents Association annual dinner at the Hog's Back Hotel, but would die in an accident on the Guildford Bypass later that night.
